ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) A review meeting on the first day of the ongoing anti-polio campaign was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, where overall performance, security arrangements, and field activities were thoroughly assessed.
The District Polio Control Room (DPCR) provided a detailed briefing on the campaign progress, informing the meeting that overall coverage in ICM clusters reached 92 percent. It was further shared that immediate sweep activities were carried out in low-coverage and reported union councils to improve vaccination outreach.
DC Sarmad Saleem Akram directed authorities to promptly identify and address any gaps in security deployment during the National Immunization Days (NIDs), ensuring complete security support for all polio teams in the field.
He emphasized strict adherence to operational plans and micro-plans by area in-charges during field activities. He also instructed that essential supplies, including finger markers and Vitamin A capsules, must be available with every team without exception.
Highlighting the importance of improved performance, the DC urged relevant departments to enhance public awareness campaigns about polio eradication. He also appealed to parents to ensure that all children under five years of age are administered polio drops to help eliminate the disease completely.
