Polio campaign launched in Mirpurkhas with focus on child immunization

MIRPURKHAS, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Jalaluddin Mahar, along with Deputy Inspector General of Police Mirpurkhas Range Faisal Abdullah Chachar on Monday inaugurated the anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops to children at Edhi middle school, operated under the Bilquis Edhi Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner emphasized that eradicating polio is essential for securing a healthy future for children. He noted that, like the rest of Sindh, the anti-polio campaign in Mirpurkhas will continue from April 13 to April 16, 2026.

He added that a target has been set to vaccinate 1,012,560 children aged up to five years across the division, while 360,104 children in Mirpurkhas district alone will receive polio drops during the campaign.

District Health Officer Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Additional District Health Officer Dr. Nahchal Rai, President of Rotary Club Mirpurkhas Rajkumar Lohana, Secretary Shehbaz Usman, Rotaract member Javed Babar, Prem Kumar, and other officials were also present.

Later, the commissioner, accompanied by the DIG, visited a toll plaza transit point to review the performance of polio teams and monitor the campaign’s implementation.
