Polio vaccination campaign enters fourth day

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Pakistan’s second nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026 continued on its fourth day, with vaccination activities underway across the country.

According to National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), here on Thursday more than 400,000 frontline workers are conducting door-to-door visits to administer polio drops to children, along with Vitamin A supplements to boost immunity.

The synchronized campaign is being carried out simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan. During the first three days, over 39.5 million children have been vaccinated nationwide,

9 million children have received polio drops, followed by 8.839 million in Sindh, 6.273 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2.107 million in Balochistan.

Around 408,000 children have been vaccinated in Islamabad, 275,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and approximately 689,000 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The campaign, started on April 13, will continue till April 19 without any interruption.

Health authorities have emphasized that polio remains an incurable disease that can cause lifelong disability and urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams by ensuring all children must be immunized.
