ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The Power Division on Wednesday said that electricity supply remained stable during peak hours last night, with improved generation and reduced load management across the country.

According to a spokesperson, increased water releases from dams in response to provincial demand enabled power generation of around 5,125 megawatts during peak hours.

The spokesperson said that around 400 megawatts of electricity from the southern region was successfully transmitted to the central grid, contributing to overall system stability.

Despite a rise in demand, distribution companies managed to maintain improved supply, with load management limited to one to two hours in various areas during peak time.

He clarified that economic load management would continue on feeders with higher losses, in line with policy, and that it had no connection with peak-hour load management.

The spokesperson further said that power plants with a total capacity of 5,500 megawatts operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG) were currently not generating electricity due to fuel shortages.

He added that with the availability of LNG, these plants would resume production, which would also help eliminate peak-time load management.
