MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, has urged the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of AJK to ensure the immediate restoration of internet services across the region, saying uninterrupted connectivity is essential for a free, fair and transparent electoral process. In a letter addressed to the CEC, Yasin on Wednesday said the ongoing suspension of internet services was disrupting election campaigns and creating difficulties for political parties, candidates and voters.
Yasin said timely access to accurate information was vital for voters to make informed decisions and warned that continued internet outages could undermine transparency during the election process. He added that communication restrictions also hamper political outreach and limit the ability of candidates to engage effectively with the electorate ahead of the polls.

He said protecting the public's right to information was a key responsibility of the Election Commission and called for immediate steps to address the issue.
Yasin urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take up the matter with the relevant authorities and secure the prompt restoration of internet services across Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said uninterrupted internet access would help ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates while strengthening public confidence in the conduct of the upcoming elections.
