PPP decides to observe Bhutto’s death anniversary at district level amid regional situation

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided not to hold the traditional central gathering

at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on April 4 to mark the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto due to the

prevailing situation in the region and asked local leaders to observe the anniversary at district level.

According to Senior Vice President of PPP South Punjab Khawaja Rizwan Alam, the party will

observe the anniversary at the district level across the country, including in South Punjab.

He said that on the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, all district organizations of the party, including elected representatives and ticket holders, have been instructed to organize Quran Khwani ceremonies in their respective districts on April 4.

Khawaja Rizwan Alam said the decision to avoid a large central gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh had been taken in view of the regional situation. Instead, commemorative events would be held locally across the country, he said adding that during these Quran Khwani ceremonies, party workers and supporters would pay tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, popularly known as Quaid-e-Awam, for his sacrifices and services for the country and its people.

The death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is observed every year on April 4, when PPP leaders, workers and supporters traditionally gather at his mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay homage.
