PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) to contest all 45 seats in upcoming AJK elections

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto) has announced that it will participate in the forthcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, fielding candidates in all 45 Constituencies, including the 12 seats reserved for Jammu and Kashmir refugees residing in Pakistan.

Speaking to APP on Monday, PPP (SB) Jammu and Kashmir President Munir Hussain Chaudhry Advocate said the upcoming elections hold significant importance for the future of the region, describing them as crucial for strengthening democracy, political stability, development and the Kashmiris' struggle for their rights. He said the party would contest the elections vigorously under the political vision of its founder, the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Chaudhry said the party was open to electoral alliances with like-minded democratic and progressive political forces but ruled out cooperation with what he termed dictatorial elements and the Zardari-led Pakistan Peoples Party.
