MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) City Women Wing Multan President Abida Bukhari has demanded withdrawal of excise tax imposed on residential houses of five marlas in Punjab.

She announced that she would soon meet PPP members of the Punjab Assembly to brief them on the tax imposed, adding that the issue would also be raised in the provincial assembly.

In a statement, Bukhari said there is no justification for imposing taxes without the approval of the assembly, stressing that all taxes must be legislated through due parliamentary process.

She argued that many people had constructed small houses during better financial times, and an increase in market value did not justify imposing new taxes on such properties.

Bukhari urged the Punjab government to immediately withdraw the tax on small residential units, stating that the public is already struggling under rising inflation and could not bear further financial pressure.
