PRCS AJK concludes three day emergency response workshop

MUZAFFARABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Pakistan Red Crescent Society AJK State Branch with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday, concluded three day Emergency Response Team workshop. The workshop was held at the Muslim Hands Office Mirpur, brought together 20 Response Team members including females participants and aimed at enhancing response capacities and improving emergency Response mechanism in district Mirpur.

The Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society AJK Sardar Shafique Ahmed Khan graced the concluding ceremony as Chief Guest. While addressing the concluding ceremony the Chairman said that disaster and emergency test not only our system, but our resolve. He further said that this workshop is an investment in lives. "I commend International Committee of the Red Cross, and National Headquarters Islamabad, for continued support and our volunteers, especially our female responders, for stepping forward to serve humanity", commended Sardar Shafique Ahmed.

The Chairman further emphasised that strengthening local response capacity remains a top priority for PRCS AJK, ensuring communities are assisted by trained responders who know the terrain, the people and urgency.

"We have trained over seventy thousand people including male, female, boys, girls and in public and private sector.

Now we are going to equip our teams and volunteers with emergency Response kits which will further enhance response", he added.

During three day worksop, important sessions were organised for participants, covered preparedness, first aid, coordination and field operations to ensure timely, effective and accountable humanitarian assistance. In addition, participants were also oriented on the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, history, fundamental principles to strengthen their understanding of humanitarian mandate and values.

Moreover, Health & First Aid Coordinator, Yasir Josh gave detailed presentations and practical demonstration on pre- hospital emergency care, outlining it's purpose and importance along with core principles of first aid, choking, burn, CPR, and hazard mapping for local risk assessment.

The Chairman PRCS AJK also distributed certificates and Emergency Kits among participants and Lauder the commitment of PRCS staff, ERTs, volunteers for joint efforts to build a safer, more resilient AJK. The Chairman also thanked Muslim Hands Mirpur management and whole team for their support. At the end cake cutting ceremony was also held to commemorate World Red Cross Red Crescent week 2026.
