MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has provided first aid training to more than 70,000 people across Mirpur division, officials said on Wednesday.
PRCS AJK Chairman Sardar Shafiq Ahmed Khan also announced that financial assistance would be provided to 500 families affected by recent floods.
A three-day capacity-building Emergency Response Team workshop was held in Mirpur in collaboration with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Around 20 emergency responders from Mirpur district participated in the training.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of responders and ensure a swift and effective response mechanism in case of emergencies and accidents. Participants were briefed on the history, principles, and ongoing programs of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Program Coordinator Yasir Josh delivered comprehensive sessions on first aid, pre-hospital emergency care, management of choking and burns, resuscitation during cardiac emergencies, awareness of local hazards, and preventive measures.
