Preparations reviewed ahead of expected heavy rains in Tharparkar

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Abdul Haleem Jagirani to review preparedness measures in view of the forecast of heavy stormy rains by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The meeting was attended by officers of municipal bodies and other relevant government departments across the district.

According to an official handout issued on Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officers to devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with any situation arising before and during the rains. He also directed them to prepare and submit contingency plans.

He emphasized the need to remove encroachments from drainage channels and ensure their proper cleaning. He also directed that drainage machinery and fire brigade vehicles be kept fully operational.

Furthermore, he instructed authorities to ensure immediate drainage of rainwater from low lying areas after rainfall.

The DC also directed officials of the health department and PPHI to ensure the availability of life saving medicines at all hospitals, particularly basic health units (BHUs) and rural health centers (RHCs) across the district.

He also instructed Rescue 1122 officials to complete all necessary arrangements, especially ensuring the availability of divers for emergency situations. HESCO officials were directed to remain present in the field during rains and improve their system to avoid disruptions.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed all assistant commissioners to remain in the field as focal persons in their respective areas and maintain close coordination with all departments.
