President reaffirms role of Constitution

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday emphasised the enduring significance of the Constitution adopted on 10 April 1973, describing it as the central legal and political framework of the state.

The president, in a message on Constitution Day, noted that the 1973 Constitution represented the first instance in which a directly elected parliament established a consensual constitutional order after more than 25 years of uncertainty.

Reflecting on the past five decades, the president observed that Pakistan has faced multiple challenges, but the Constitution has remained a source of continuity and institutional recovery.
