Price monitoring stepped up in KP during Ramazan

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Chief Secretary Shohab Ali Shàh chaired a high level meeting to review implementation of a special Ramazan relief plan aimed at providing maximum relief to the public during the holy month.

He said that effective implementation of the Ramazan Relief Plan had been initiated across the province to ensure relief to citizens. Price Monitoring Desks have been established in all districts to continuously monitor prices of essential food items.

He said indiscriminate action was underway against hoarding adulteration inflation and profiteering while additional price magistrates had been assigned responsibilities to ensure swift and effective enforcement. He added that close coordination was being maintained with market associations and the trader community so that the benefits of Ramazan relief measures directly reach the public.

The chief secretary said district administrations had been directed to deal respectfully and within the bounds of law with all citizens including street vendors.

Keeping in view the sanctity of Ramazan he said a joint strategy was being formulated in collaboration with religious scholars against adulteration inflation and profiteering and awareness would also be created through Friday sermons.

He said comprehensive plans had also been enforced for traffic management cleanliness of markets and elimination of organized begging. Ramazan Dastarkhwans would be set up at various locations with the support of philanthropists and organizations.

The chief secretary said special coordination was being maintained with relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas during Ramazan. He added that dedicated WhatsApp numbers had been issued in all districts for prompt redressal of public complaints where citizens could report price hikes or shortages. Complaints could also be submitted through the Marastyal app for public convenience.
