Prominent social figure Malik Zia shot dead in Bajaur

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Unknown assailants on Sunday morning shot dead a well-known social figure, Malik Zia Salarzai in Bajaur district.

According to police, the incident took place in Kohi Dando area of Salarzai tehsil, where unidentified assailants opened fire, targeting the social worker. He was critically injured in the attack and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Malik Zia Salarzai was widely respected for his longstanding contributions to social welfare. He actively participated in initiatives aimed at helping the poor and underprivileged.

He was also known for supporting the construction of mosques and religious schools, as well as organizing fundraising campaigns to provide religious education materials for students.

His death has sparked widespread concern and grief across the district.

Local residents have strongly urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action and ensure the arrest of those responsible for the attack.

Police have collected evidence from the crime scene and started an investigation to nab those responsible for this cowardly and condemnable act.
