Protecting women's health & dignity top priority of provincial govt: Ghazala Gola

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) An MHM (Menstrual Health Management) Working Group, with support from UNICEF held a consultative meeting in Quetta to discuss women's health, particularly menstrual health management in Balochistan on Thursday.

The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Ghazala Gola and MPA Rahmat Saleh Baloch, and attended by MNA Akhtar Bibi, MPAs Khair Jan Baloch, Shahida Rauf, Kulsoom Niaz Baloch, Chairman Balochistan Revenue Authority Abdullah Noorzai, representatives of UN agencies, and members of civil society.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola said protecting women's health and dignity is a top priority of the provincial government, adding that the abolition of taxes on sanitary products is a significant step and efforts are underway to ensure its benefits reach deserving women.

MPA Rahmat Saleh Baloch stressed the need for coordinated efforts among all relevant departments to promote awareness and provide free menstrual hygiene facilities.

Chairperson of the MHM Working Group Secretariat Balochistan, Dr. Tahira Kamal Baloch, described the tax exemption as a historic achievement and said the next goal is to advocate for free menstrual hygiene products in schools while raising awareness about their environmental impact and safe disposal
