ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) has announced a nationwide call for proposals under its newly launched programme titled 'Industrial Solution Grants for Young Scientists', aimed at promoting applied, industry-driven

research and strengthening linkages between academia and the industrial sector.

The call will remain open till March 31 and seeks innovative research solutions to real-world industrial problems with a focus on developing commercially viable indigenous technologies.

The programme encourages young scientists to design demand-driven projects in close collaboration with relevant industries, where industry partners will serve as co-principal investigators or collaborators.

According to PSF, the key objectives of the initiative include fostering applied research culture among young scholars and building sustainable partnerships between higher education institutions and industry for technology development and commercialization.

The priority focus areas for proposals include climate change, food security, artificial intelligence (AI), textiles and fiber value addition, agriculture-based industries, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and chemistry, engineering, renewable energy, and emerging technologies.

Scientists and researchers from HEC-recognized higher education institutions, centres of excellence, and Research and Development organizations are eligible to apply, provided they involve enrolled MS, MPhil, or PhD students in their research projects.

The proposals must be developed in collaboration with relevant industries to ensure practical application and impact.

Under the programme guidelines, research grants will be awarded for a maximum duration of two years, with funding of up to Rs3 million per project. PSF has indicated that proposals involving financial contribution from industry partners will be given preference.

It is also mandatory that both the academic researcher and the student scholar belong to the same research domain.

PSF retains the authority to evaluate proposals and make final funding decisions in line with programme objectives and national development priorities.

All applications must be submitted through the Research Grant Management System (RGMS) available on the PSF website, where detailed submission guidelines have also been provided.

For further information, applicants may contact the Technology, Additional Managerial and Commercialization wing of PSF at its Islamabad office.

The initiative is expected to play a vital role in transforming academic research into practical industrial solutions while empowering young scientists to contribute directly to Pakistan’s technological and economic development.
