PSX witnesses bearish trend, loses over 1,742 points

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the pakistan stock exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Monday, losing 1,742.31 points, a negative change of 1.00 percent, closing at 172,196.70 points against 173,939.01 points on the last trading day, according to psx data.

During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 1,296.211 million shares with a traded value of Rs 65.274 billion, compared to 1,440.629 million shares valuing Rs 67.992 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization declined to Rs 19.060 trillion from Rs 19.250 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 488 active companies in the ready market, 138 advanced, 319 declined, and 31 remained unchanged.

Bank of Punjab topped the volume chart with 120.854 million shares, followed by Unity Foods Limited with 92.

476 million shares and K-Electric Limited with 85.682 million shares.

The top gainers included Khyber Textile Mills Limited, which increased by Rs 144.69 to close at Rs 1,591.58, and Sitara Chemical Industries Limited, which gained Rs 78.28 to settle at Rs 861.11.

On the losing side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs 142.50 to close at Rs 9,495.34, while Allawasaya Textile & Finishing Mills Limited fell by Rs 129.00 to close at Rs 1,411.00.

In the futures market, turnover stood at 358.035 million shares with a traded value of Rs 19.527 billion, compared to 272.496 million shares worth Rs 15.287 billion in the previous session.

Out of 315 futures-market companies, 52 recorded gains while 262 declined and 1 remained unchanged, according to PSX data.
