ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) A psychiatrist on Saturday highlighted a deeply disturbing trend of rising psychological disorders leading to extreme family violence, including child killings by parents and called it a wake-up call for society to prioritize awareness, education and the role of ulema and media.
A Psychiatrist Dr Abu ul Hassan, while speaking to a local media channel, shed light on recent incidents of family clashes and the growing mental health crisis affecting households.
He said that such incidents are becoming increasingly common and are deeply disturbing for society.
He referred to several recent cases where intense domestic disputes escalated to extreme outcomes, including violence within families. According to him, these incidents reflect a serious breakdown of emotional control and rising psychological stress among individuals.
Dr Abu Hassan noted that in many cases, children are the most affected victims of these family conflicts, adding, exposure to constant arguments, aggression and instability leaves long-lasting emotional scars on their minds.
He further added that such environments negatively impact children’s growth, leading to anxiety, fear, behavioral issues, and difficulties in building trust and relationships later in life.
The psychiatrist emphasized that these incidents are not isolated but indicate a broader mental health issue that requires immediate attention, adding, the importance of early intervention and mental health awareness to prevent such tragedies.
He called upon parents, educators, media and religious scholars to play a responsible role in spreading awareness, providing guidance and helping families manage stress before it turns into destructive outcomes.
He also urged the government to strengthen mental health services, establish accessible counseling centers and launch nationwide awareness programs to address the growing psychological challenges and help prevent further family-related crises.
