Public School Umerkot building permanently handed over to SAU campus

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) The building of Public school, Umerkot has been permanently handed over to the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam for its Umerkot campus, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of higher education in the region.

According to an official statement issued by the university spokesperson, the transfer is expected to further strengthen both academic and administrative activities at the Umerkot campus, while providing enhanced educational facilities and opportunities for students, particularly those from Thar and surrounding areas.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal described the development as a major achievement for the university and called it a historic milestone.

He noted that the move would promote institutional growth and expand access to quality education, enabling more students to pursue higher studies closer to their homes.

He added that the initiative would play a vital role in advancing higher education in underdeveloped areas.

The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the support extended by provincial education minister Syed Sardar Ahmed Shah, who played an active role in facilitating the permanent transfer.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Zia-ul-Hassan Shah also expressed gratitude to the provincial government and university leadership for their keen interest in strengthening the Umerkot sub-campus.

He noted that the availability of dedicated infrastructure would significantly enhance educational facilities for students in the area.
