Punjab announces 470 scholarships for Balochistan students

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) The Punjab government has announced 470 scholarships for talented students from Balochistan, a move warmly welcomed by the people of the province. Applications have already been invited through the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund.

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in a message on social media platform X, expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the initiative. He said the government has opened the doors of country's premier educational institutions to the children of hardworking families in Balochistan — institutions that were once accessible only to the elite.

Sarfraz Bugti highlighted the example of a van driver’s son from a rural area of Balochistan gaining admission to a prestigious institution, calling it a clear sign of positive change. He emphasized that Balochistan is now on the path of educational progress and reiterated that quality education is every child’s fundamental right.

The Chief Minister added that the provincial government is taking serious measures to ensure the provision of quality education, underscoring that such opportunities will help bridge social divides and strengthen the future of Balochistan.
