LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 17th, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday announced that 4 million families across the province would be provided Ramazan Nehgahban Cards under the government’s welfare initiative.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to review the Ramazan Nehgahban.
During the session, she directed authorities to take strict action against profiteers and hoarders to control inflation during the holy month.
The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to provide financial relief and ensure the affordability of essential goods for low-income families during the fasting month.
Maryam Nawaz also declared that restrictions on market and shopping center timings will be lifted throughout Ramazan.
She emphasized that prices tend to rise sharply during the month and urged all commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure effective monitoring and enforcement.
Highlighting the government’s proactive approach, the Chief Minister said special arrangements have been made to support individuals facing unemployment or financial difficulties, ensuring that families will receive assistance directly at their doorsteps.
According to officials, over 400,000 Ramazan Nehgahban Cards have already been delivered, and the government aims to provide the cards to 4 million families by the 10th of Ramazan.
Punjab CM also advised beneficiaries not to discard the cards after use, noting that the same cards will be utilized for future relief distributions to deserving households.
