Punjab Education Minister inaugurates enrollment drive in Sialkot

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat inaugurated a school enrollment campaign at Government High School Daluwali during his visit to Sialkot on Thursday, aiming to boost admissions in public sector institutions.

On arrival, the minister was presented a guard of honour by Scouts and Girl Guides. Chaudhry Tariq Subhani, Shakeela Arthur and Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali were also present.

The minister distributed prizes among position-holder students and gave gifts to students and teachers from his personal funds. He also purchased garments worth Rs100,000 from e-commerce students to encourage their skills and entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Sikandar Hayat said modern technology was being introduced in government schools on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He added that a Google training programme would be launched in all high and higher secondary schools of Sialkot during the current year.

He further announced that an AI and robotics lab would be established at Daluwali School within six months at a cost of Rs45 million, while a girls’ college would also be set up in the area next year.

The minister said the government was committed to improving the standard of education in public institutions to match that of private schools. He added that special focus was being given to girls’ enrollment in non-formal schools.

He informed that 380 non-formal schools were currently functioning in Sialkot district, where around 10,000 students were receiving education.
