RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2026) The Punjab government has operationalized multiple stroke management centres across key public hospitals as part of a province-wide initiative to improve emergency response and treatment for stroke patients.
The initiative was announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in February this year to establish stroke management facilities in every district, with a focus on timely intervention during critical hours to reduce mortality and disability.
According to official details, stroke centres have been set up in major tertiary care hospitals including Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, Mayo Hospital, Services Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore, along with Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Officials said the initiative also includes deployment of trained medical staff, with doctors and nurses undergoing specialized stroke management training to handle emergency cases effectively at district headquarters hospitals.
The government has also planned public awareness campaigns on stroke symptoms and response, emphasizing early recognition and rapid hospital access to improve patient outcomes.
