Punjab government’s Ashura arrangements win praise during Azma Bokhari’s visit

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Thursday reviewed Ashura security and service arrangements across Faisalabad division while the mourners and organizers praised the Punjab government for providing unprecedented facilities for Majalis and mourning processions.

Accompanied by Chief Minister’s Adviser Zeeshan Malik, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Sukhera and Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen, the information minister visited Faisalabad city, Toba Tek Singh, Kamalia and Pir Mahal to inspect Majalis, processions and their designated routes.

Azma Bokhari met Majalis organizers and inquired about the arrangements for security, cleanliness, drinking water, medical cover, traffic management and other public facilities.

She also spoke with mourners and sought their feedback on the facilities being extended by the Punjab government during Ashura.

The mourners and Majalis organizers expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and thanked Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz for ensuring improved facilities at Majalis and procession routes.

One of the mourners said that no previous government had provided such extensive facilities for Azadars as those being made available under the present Punjab government.

Majalis organizers also said that they were pleased and satisfied with the government’s arrangements.

During her visit to Toba Tek Singh, the information minister attended a briefing at Deputy Commissioner’s Office on security measures and administrative preparations for Ashura.

The briefing covered deployment plans, surveillance, route management, emergency response, sanitation and coordination among all relevant departments.

In Kamalia, Azma Bokhari visited a historic Imambargah and reviewed the arrangements made for mourners.

She also interacted with women participants of the Majlis, who appreciated the government’s steps for facilitating women and ensuring secure and orderly observance of Ashura.

The minister also visited a government-established Sabeel in Kamalia, where she drank the sherbet and checked its quality.

She directed the concerned authorities to maintain hygiene standards and ensure uninterrupted provision of clean drinking water to mourners throughout the Ashura days.

Azma Bokhari said that the Punjab government had mobilized all departments to ensure peaceful, secure and dignified observance of Ashura across the province.

She said that the government would continue to monitor arrangements in the field and address any issue faced by mourners or organizers without delay.
