Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equal facilities and support for journalists in South Punjab, stating that efforts are actively underway to bridge the gap with Central Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equal facilities and support for journalists in South Punjab, stating that efforts are actively underway to bridge the gap with Central Punjab.

She expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Bahawalpur Press Club, led by its President Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, on Thursday. The delegation briefed the minister on the challenges faced by journalists in the region and presented her with a traditional shawl as a gesture of goodwill.

Azma Bokhari stated that her office remains open to all journalists and emphasized that the Punjab government is fully committed to the welfare of media professionals across the province.

She highlighted that journalists from Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Lahore are treated equally, without any discrimination.

The minister also praised the Bahawalpur Press Club for regularly holding annual elections, terming it a strong democratic tradition. She added that press clubs play a crucial role in safeguarding the fundamental rights of journalists.

The delegation included Secretary Jalaluddin Bhatti, Senior Vice President Murtaza Nazir, Nadeem Abbas, and Imran Rizvi. Secretary Information Punjab Tahir Raza Hamdani also attended the meeting.
