LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Punjab Minister for Law Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan distributed development and welfare grants among office-bearers of various district and tehsil bar associations of Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sahiwal divisions during a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of the Civil Secretariat, here on Thursday.
Provincial Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Members of the Punjab Assembly Sultan Haider Ali Khan, Saleem Ghazali Butt, Ashraf Rasool and Malik Shehbaz, Secretary Law Punjab Asif Bilal Lodhi, Deputy Secretary Administration Aitazaz Aslam, Parliamentary Secretary for Law Khalid Mahmood Ranjha, representatives of bar councils and bar associations, and a large number of lawyers attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the Punjab government, under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was taking practical steps to promote the welfare of lawyers and strengthen bar institutions across the province.
He said grants worth Rs67 million had been allocated to district bar associations of Lahore, Kasur and Nankana Sahib, as well as tehsil bar associations of Chunian, Kot Radha Kishan, Pattoki, Sheikhupura, Ferozewala, Sangla Hill and Shahkot.
The minister said district bar associations of Murree, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum, along with tehsil bar associations of Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, Kotli Sattian, Fateh Jang, Hassan Abdal, Jand, Pindigheb, Choa Saidan Shah, Sohawa and Pind Dadan Khan, received grants amounting to Rs49 million under the Rawalpindi Division.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Similarly, district bar associations of Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan, as well as tehsil bar associations of Chichawatni, Depalpur, Renala Khurd and Arifwala, were provided grants worth Rs51 million under the Sahiwal Division.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan reiterated that the Punjab government would continue extending all possible support to the legal fraternity and that financial assistance to bar associations would remain an ongoing process. He added that measures were also being taken to enhance lawyers’ professional capacity, improve bar rooms and provide modern facilities to members of the legal community.
The minister said lawyers were the backbone of the justice delivery system and that a strong judicial framework was essential for upholding the rule of law and maintaining public confidence. He added that strengthening bar associations would further improve the judicial system, while easy access to justice remained a key priority of the Punjab government.
