LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) The Punjab government has initiated preparations for the construction of SL-4 following the completion of SL-3, with the task assigned to the Communications and Works (C&W) Department and the Lahore Ring Road Authority.
The first high-level meeting on the project, held after approval from Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was chaired by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed , here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, Chairman Lahore Ring Road Authority Safiullah Gondal, senior officers, NESPAK representatives and chief engineers, who were briefed in detail on the proposed scheme.
According to the briefing, SL-4 will span approximately 18 kilometres, starting from Multan Road and extending to Nazir Labana (Sharaqpur), with an estimated cost exceeding Rs45 billion. The project will feature multiple interchanges, toll plazas, a bridge over River Ravi, and a state-of-the-art service area.
Land acquisition will be undertaken, and the project is expected to be completed within two years.
The minister directed the C&W Department and Lahore Ring Road Authority to prepare a comprehensive working paper on technical grounds and sought a report from the Irrigation Department regarding the construction of the Ravi bridge. He also instructed the immediate formation of a dedicated working team and emphasized linking SL-3 with SL-4 to ensure seamless connectivity.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said the completion of SL-4 would significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity, particularly benefiting residents of Sharaqpur and adjoining areas. He termed the project a potential game changer that would enhance mobility standards and provide improved travel facilities to the public.
