Punjab govt plans to establish a modern AI data centre in Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) A plan has been prepared to establish a modern AI data centre in Punjab to promote modern artificial intelligence projects, under which government institutions will be provided with modern computing facilities and powerful data infrastructure.

Under the project, modern GPU servers equipped with NVIDIA AH200 technology will be installed in the data center, which will be capable of storing large amounts of data, processing it quickly and running modern AI models. The main objective of the center is to provide powerful computing resources and secure data infrastructure for artificial intelligence projects.

A committee in this connection has also been established to review the efficiency of AI quality of two companies, CMC and NETS, that have submitted bids for setting up the AI Hub. Only CMC was declared qualified in the technical evaluation stage, while NETS was disqualified for not meeting the mandatory technical conditions.

The committee has recommended opening CMC’s financial bid.

The project will include modern servers, data storage, backup, uninterrupted power supply and modern cooling system along with other necessary facilities. Firewalls and EDR security system will also be installed at 100 endpoints to protect the data center from cyber attacks.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply, a 200 kVA generator, UPS and other power backup systems will also be part of the project, so that the AI computing and data processing system can continue uninterrupted.

The total cost of the project was not mentioned in the documents, however, the amount of bid security has been set at Rs 60 million. The actual cost offered by the successful company for the project will be revealed after the financial bid is opened.
