Punjab govt promoting inter-Muslim and interfaith unity: Kh Salman Rafique

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee for Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Punjab government is promoting inter-Muslim unity and interfaith harmony in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He expressed these views while addressing the Tahafuz Namoos Risalat Conference as a special guest on the occasion of the Day of Protection of the Honour of Holy Prophet (PBUH) on Sunday.

The conference was organized by the Punjab Quran board in collaboration with the Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department.

Addressing the gathering, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the participants had gathered on a matter that is not related to any individual, group or sect but is the center of faith for the entire Muslim Ummah. He said that after Allah Almighty, the greatest love in the heart of every Muslim is for Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him).

He added that the Holy Quran has repeatedly highlighted the greatness of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and that Allah Almighty declared him as a mercy for all mankind. He said that throughout Islamic history, scholars have rendered valuable scholarly services to safeguard the honour and respect of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The minister further said that scholars in the Indo-Pak subcontinent have also played a significant role in protecting the honour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi also attended the conference. Khateeb and Imam of Badshahi Mosque and Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar and Mufti Intikhab Ahmed Noori were also present on the occasion.

Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhatta and Director General Auqaf Shahid Hussain Kalyani also attended the conference.
