Punjab govt promoting interfaith, inter-Muslim unity across province: Minister Salman

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday said that the Punjab government was actively promoting interfaith harmony and inter-Muslim unity across the province to ensure lasting peace and stability.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of Wifaq Al-Madaris Al-Arabiya Pakistan, where matters related to law and order and the promotion of inter-Muslim harmony were discussed in detail.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, meetings were being held with eminent scholars belonging to all schools of thought. He said religious scholars played a vital role in promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood in society. The minister added that the Punjab government was taking serious and effective measures to establish sustainable peace in the province.

Secretary Punjab Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that respected scholars always imparted the message of peace and mutual tolerance. He added that informing people about the true spirit of religion was a great service rendered by religious scholars.

Secretary General Wifaq Al-Madaris Al-Arabiya Pakistan Maulana Qari Hanif Jalandhari welcomed the Punjab government’s efforts for inter-Muslim unity. He said resolving issues through dialogue and mutual consultation was the only guarantee of social stability. He assured that religious scholars would continue extending full cooperation to the government for the promotion of religious harmony and tolerance.

At the conclusion of the meeting, prayers were offered for the development, prosperity and security of the country and the nation.

The delegation was led by Secretary General Wifaq Al-Madaris Al-Arabiya Pakistan Maulana Qari Hanif Jalandhari. Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, Special Secretary Faisal Farid, DG Auqaf Hafiz Aneesur Rehman, Sohail Raza, Ahmed Khawar Shahzad, AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat, Additional Secretary Special Initiative Abdul Rauf and other officials attended the meeting.

The Wifaq Al-Madaris delegation included Maulana Ahmed Hanif Jalandhari, Hafiz Asad Obaid, Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Hafiz Saad Asad, Maulana Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Inqilabi and Aziz-ur-Rehman.
