LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Punjab government is taking serious and effective measures to establish lasting peace across the province.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek held at the Home Department on Thursday as part of an ongoing series of consultations with religious scholars. The meeting discussed the overall law and order situation and measures for promoting inter-Muslim unity.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government is promoting inter-faith harmony and inter-Muslim unity throughout the province. He said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, meetings are being held with prominent scholars belonging to all schools of thought.
He stated that Pakistan is gaining respect globally and, by the will of Almighty Allah, the country’s armed forces are defeating the malicious intentions of enemies. He added that religious scholars play a key role in promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood in society.
Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said all schools of thought in Pakistan are living together peacefully under the principle of coexistence. He said the Cyber Patrol Cell of the Home Department is taking action against elements spreading hatred and sectarianism.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi revealed that action had been taken this year against 6,000 social media accounts involved in spreading sectarianism and chaos. He also urged mosque Imams to guide the public about drug prevention during Friday sermons.
Provincial President Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Central Punjab Sardar Muhammad Tahir Dogar welcomed the efforts aimed at promoting inter-Muslim unity. He said dialogue and mutual consultation are the only guarantees of social stability and assured the government of full cooperation in promoting religious harmony and tolerance.
Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the meeting for the development, prosperity and security of the country and the nation.
The delegation was led by Provincial President Central Punjab Sardar Muhammad Tahir Dogar. The meeting was attended by Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, Additional Secretary Internal Security Maham Asif Malik, Brigadier Asjad, Additional Secretary Special Initiative Abdul Rauf and other officials.
The delegation of scholars included Muhammad Zahid Habib Qadri, Dr Imran Mustafa Khokhar, Sahibzada Muhammad Imtiaz, Muhammad Sharifuddin Gaddafi, Mufti Muhammad Zafarullah Shakir, Riazuddin Siddiqui, Muhammad Javed Iqbal Qadri, Muhammad Sajjad Hussain, Ghulam Mohiuddin Shahid Qadri, Muhammad Waseem Naqshbandi, Abrar Hussain and others.
