Punjab govt taking steps for promotion of sports

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Divisional Sports Officer Multan Ata-ur-Rehman Khan has said the Punjab government is taking practical steps to promote sports and provide modern sports facilities to young athletes across the province.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, and the guidance of Provincial Minister for Sports Mr. Faisal Khokhar, a comprehensive Annual Sports Calendar has been introduced to ensure the regular organization of sporting events throughout the year.

He stated that the successful conduct of the Inter-District Table Tennis Championship in Multan division demonstrated the sports department's commitment to nurture emerging talent and providing competitive opportunities to youth.

Such events not only encourage healthy activities but also help identify talented players capable of representing the division, province, and country at higher levels.

Mr Ata-ur-Rehman Khan further emphasized that the Sports department Multan will continue organizing sports competitions, coaching camps, and talent development programs to engage youth in positive and constructive activities.

He added that the department's mission was to foster a strong sporting culture and produce athletes who can bring honor and recognition to Pakistan at national and international forums.
