The Punjab Health Department has sought explanations from nine teaching hospitals across the province over non-implementation of the Annual Compulsory Procurement Calendar (APC) and violations of financial discipline during the financial year 2025-26
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) The Punjab Health Department has sought explanations from nine teaching hospitals across the province over non-implementation of the Annual Compulsory Procurement Calendar (APC) and violations of financial discipline during the financial year 2025-26.
According to official sources on Friday, the hospitals issued notices include Services Hospital Lahore, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, Mayo Hospital Lahore, DHQ Teaching Hospital Narowal, Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, Children’s Hospital Faisalabad, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, Pak Atelier Burn Center Multan, and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital.
During a review of the implementation of the APC and expenditures related to the procurement of medicines and disposables, it was revealed that these institutions failed to comply with the department’s directives.
The hospitals allegedly neglected their responsibilities by not following the procurement calendar and disregarding clear instructions regarding the purchase of medicines and medical supplies.
The report further highlighted that 57 percent of procurement expenditures were made through local purchase (LP), which constitutes a serious violation of established policy and financial discipline.
The Health Department has warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken if allegations of incompetence and mismanagement are proven. All concerned hospitals have been directed to submit their explanations within five days.
