Punjab Home Department says restriction has been enforced within a 13-kilometre radius of all commercial airports and PAF airbases throughout Punjab

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 21st, 2026) The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 around all airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbases across the province for 30 days in a bid to ensure aviation safety and secure flight operations.

Punjab Home Department said that the restriction has been enforced within a 13-kilometre radius of all commercial airports and PAF airbases throughout Punjab.

Under the order, pigeon flying, use of laser lights, and dumping of animal waste or meat have been completely prohibited in the designated areas.

The officials said the decision was taken to protect human lives and property, noting that such activities pose serious risks to aircraft operations and overall aviation safety.

The Punjab Home Department explained that bird activity increases significantly in areas where animal waste is dumped, raising the risk of bird strikes, which can endanger aircraft and passengers. Similarly, laser lights directed toward aircraft can interfere with flight operations and create safety hazards.

The restriction has been imposed under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, and will remain effective for 30 days across the province.

The authorities in Punjab have directed district administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the order and maintain cleanliness in and around airport and airbase zones.
