LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the largest-ever special cleanliness operation across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and was personally monitoring the campaign through live reporting systems,here on Wednesday.
For the first time,a mechanism for real-time monitoring of cleanliness operations through eight different sources and departments has been made functional.
On the directions of the CM,deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners reached the field to supervise cleanliness arrangements.
The operation has been launched in districts of Lahore,Faisalabad,Multan,Dera Ghazi Khan,Gujranwala,Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal, while “Suthra Punjab” teams and workers remained active in streets and neighborhoods across the province.
Special cleanliness drives were carried out early in the morning at mosques,Eidgahs,graveyards,markets,roads,streets and localities.
Roads leading to mosques and Eidgahs were cleaned and washed while lime marking was also carried out.
Special arrangements were made at tehsil and district hospitals, with assistant commissioners and deputy commissioners conducting visits to review facilities.
Special teams have also been deployed to monitor disposal of animal waste and remains in streets and markets while violators may face fines of up to Rs.

Authorities said streets and markets would be washed with phenyl and rose water after removal of waste materials.
More than 4,000 union councils across Punjab have established “Suthra Punjab” camps to facilitate citizens.
Over 1,76,000 sanitation workers have been mobilized for the Eid special cleanliness operation while services of an additional 8,000 workers have also been acquired.
More than 40,000 vehicles of the “Suthra Punjab” campaign were participating in the operation while an additional 12,000 loader rickshaws have been hired for waste collection.
Under the operational plan,two loader rickshaws have been deployed in small union councils,three in medium-sized and four in large union councils for lifting animal waste.
More than 12.5 million environment-friendly bags have been distributed door-to-door for disposal of sacrificial waste while camps have also been established at various locations for provision of the bags.
Citizens can register cleanliness-related complaints through helpline 1139 for immediate resolution.
The chief minister directed authorities concerned to ensure prompt redressal of all sanitation-related complaints during Eid holidays.
