Punjab minister stresses unity, says anti-peace designs against Pakistan failing

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, has said that attempts to disrupt peace in Pakistan are failing, expressing gratitude that the country has been honored in the context of Iran-US talks.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Chancellor of Al-Ghazali University and Patron-in-Chief of Jamiat-ul-Rashid, Mufti Abdul Rahim, held on Sunday. The meeting focused on the law and order situation and the promotion of inter-Muslim unity.

Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that the Punjab government is actively promoting interfaith and inter-Muslim harmony across the province. He said that, on the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a series of meetings with scholars from all schools of thought is ongoing. He also appreciated the Chief Minister’s honorarium program for Imams, terming it a positive initiative.

He emphasized that religious seminaries should play a constructive role in the country’s development and noted that ensuring the security of the state remains the top priority. He added that scholars have a vital role in fostering peace, tolerance, and brotherhood in society.

Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi also addressed the meeting, stating that respected scholars consistently promote peace and mutual tolerance. He said that guiding people towards the true spirit of religion is a valuable service, adding that maintaining peace in Punjab is the government’s foremost priority.

On the occasion, Mufti Abdul Rahim highlighted the importance of scholars in strengthening the state and welcomed the Punjab government’s efforts to promote unity among Muslims. He said that resolving issues through dialogue and consultation is essential for social stability and assured full cooperation with the government in promoting religious harmony and tolerance. He added that with peace in Pakistan, all negative designs of external elements would fail.

At the conclusion of the meeting, prayers were offered for the country’s development and prosperity.

Special Secretary Fazal ur Rehman, Additional Secretary Special Initiative Abdul Rauf, and other officials attended the meeting. The Jamiat-ul-Rashid delegation included Engineer Mufti Usman, Maulana Salman Advocate, Maulana Syed Fahim-ul-Hasan, Maulana Abdul Wadood, and Hafiz Saleem Abid.
