ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) DIG Investigation Punjab Shoaib Khurram Janbaaz on Monday said Punjab has emerged as a leading province in reducing crime and combating terrorism, attributing the achievement to proactive policing and modernization reforms introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In an interview with ptv news, he said Punjab is set to launch its first Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU), which will be equipped with advanced digital and forensic technologies to investigate cyber-enabled crimes, including online fraud, hacking and digital harassment.
He explained that criminals have increasingly shifted from traditional methods to digital platforms, with conventional frauds evolving into sophisticated online scams and cyber-enabled crimes, adding, to effectively tackle these emerging threats, the Punjab government under CM Punjab Maryum Nawaz is introducing advanced technologies, digital forensic tools and the province's first Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU), enabling law enforcement agencies to investigate and prevent cyber-crime more efficiently.
He said the provincial government has upgraded traditional investigation methods by introducing modern technology, including artificial intelligence, Safe City surveillance systems, digital monitoring tools and data-driven policing techniques to improve investigations and response times.

He added that Punjab is building a modern and technology-driven policing system capable of addressing evolving security challenges.
He said the Punjab Police has introduced a transparent and speedy case-resolution system, supported by regular coordination meetings among all relevant departments to improve performance and ensure timely justice. He added that greater institutional coordination has played a key role in addressing crime and security challenges across the province.
Janbaaz said the upcoming Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) will be staffed by trained professionals and technical experts capable of investigating complex cyber offenses. The unit will use advanced digital tools and forensic technology to effectively counter online fraud, hacking, and other cyber-enabled crimes.
In his message to the public, he urged parents to focus on the upbringing and education of their children, stressing that strong moral values and quality education are essential for building a peaceful society.
He emphasized that criminals have no respect or importance in society and called on families to guide the younger generation towards positive and productive paths.
