Punjab Ombudsman forms inquiry committee to address workplace harassment of women: Advisor

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Advisor to the Provincial Ombudsman Punjab, Sargodha Region, Muhammad Ilyas Gul, has said that the Ombudsman Punjab has constituted an inquiry committee under the “Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010” to ensure protection of women against harassment at workplaces.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that the committee would investigate various complaints related to workplace harassment. He mentioned that Secretary Ombudsman Punjab, Qaiser Saleem, has been appointed as Chairman of the committee, while Advisor (T&M) Arif Anwar Baloch and Director (A&F) Dur-e-Shehwar have been included as members.

The Advisor said the committee has been empowered to investigate both formal and informal complaints of harassment filed by women associated with the office of Ombudsman Punjab. "The committee would also address cases involving harassment faced by any female member of the committee by any individual in Punjab", he added.

Muhammad Ilyas Gul further said that the committee would help provide better protection to working women against harassment and violence. He added that implementation of the law would also contribute towards eliminating gender discrimination in society.
