MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) In a major step towards regulating teenage driving and promoting road safety, the Punjab government has allowed youngsters aged 16 to 18 years to obtain juvenile driving permits for motorcycles and scooties.
According to the spokesman of the City Traffic Police Muhammad Adnan, under the new policy, applicants between 16 and 18 years of age will be eligible to get a juvenile driving permit subject to fulfilment of certain conditions laid down by the authorities.
According to the eligibility criteria, the applicant must submit a written consent affidavit from parents or guardian, possesses a Smart Card or NADRA-issued B-Form, and provide the CNIC of the parent or guardian.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The applicant will also have to pass the traffic sign test, while the parent or guardian will be required to accompany the candidate to the licensing centre.
Under the permit, juveniles will be allowed to ride motorcycles up to 125cc.
The fee for issuance of the permit has been fixed at Rs1,000 for applicants aged 16 to 17 years, while candidates between 17 and 18 years will have to pay Rs500.
The initiative is being viewed as an important step towards bringing teenage riders under a legal framework, ensuring parental supervision and promoting safer driving practices among youth.
