Punjab orders Friday closure of schools, revises timings

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) The Punjab School education Department on Wednesday announced that all public and private schools across the province will remain closed on Fridays till further orders.

According to a notification issued here, the decision was taken with the approval of the competent authority.

With same regard, schools in Rawalpindi will be following the revised school timings for public institutions. Single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday to Thursday.

For double-shift schools, morning classes will be held from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, while afternoon shifts will run from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm during the same days.

The students will have three day weekends now onwards, till new orders are issued.
