BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Regional Police Officer Multan, Usman Akram Gondal, on Tuesday announced that recruitment of around 5,500 new police personnel would begin soon to further strengthen law enforcement.

Speaking to media after holding an open court at Model Town Police Station, he said the Punjab Police force had significantly increased over the past five years, rising from 160,000 to over 225,000 personnel.

Gondal said a special operation against cattle thieves was underway across Multan Division, adding that other crimes were also being effectively controlled.

He said the establishment of CCD and Anti-Riot Force had helped reduce crime rate considerably.

During the open court, he issued on-the-spot orders on public complaints. DPO Vehari Tasawar Iqbal, DSP Burewala Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu and other officers were also present.

The RPO said the purpose of open courts was to hear public grievances directly and ensure their prompt resolution on merit, adding that providing justice at people’s doorstep and eliminating criminal elements remained top police priorities.
