Punjab Prisons Dept cuts 50% petrol

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) After Punjab Police, the Punjab Prisons Department has also taken important steps to reduce expenses and cut petrol for officers and staff by 50 percent.

According to details, petrol for official vehicles of IG Prisons, DIGs and superintendents has been significantly reduced.

Monthly petrol for DIGs and superintendents has been reduced from 200 liters to 100 liters, while IG Prisons has also reduced petrol by 50 percent.

Official sources say that petrol for office staff has also been reduced by half, which is aimed at controlling unnecessary expenses.

In addition, the IG Prisons has also stopped the DIGs from unnecessary visits to the region to ensure effective use of resources.

Officials say that these measures have been taken under the austerity policy at the government level.
