Punjab Sports Minister reviews development projects in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex, Pindi food Street, and Rawalpindi cricket Stadium to review ongoing development projects, facilities, and administrative matters.

During his visit to Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex, the minister was briefed on the progress of the “Renovation of Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex” scheme. He inspected various sections of the facility and also reviewed the condition of the swimming pool.

Khokhar directed the Project Management Unit (PMU) to enhance the efficiency of the solar system being installed at the complex, ensuring it is designed to meet the energy needs of the entire facility, including the swimming pool, to promote sustainable and efficient energy use.

Later, the minister visited Pindi Food Street and instructed the relevant officials to immediately finalize the agreement with the leaseholder.

He emphasized that the agreement should be signed without delay and that outstanding dues must be recovered and deposited with the Punjab Sports board.

Khokhar also visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where he inspected a site near the exit gate of Pindi Food Street owned by the Director General Sports Punjab. The location was deemed suitable for the establishment of two padel tennis courts.

The provincial minister reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to promote sports across the province, providing modern facilities, and ensuring a transparent administrative system to create healthy and positive opportunities for youth.

District Sports Officer and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
