Units will train sleuths, speed up forensic reporting & aid timely submission of challans

RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab Forensic Science Agency has approved the establishment of new "Crime Scene Units" in 28 districts across the province, including five districts of the Rawalpindi Division. To ensure timely completion of these units, district administrations have been directed to immediately acquire eight to 10 kanals of land or allocate government land and transfer it to the Home Department so that implementation can begin without delay. In the Rawalpindi Division, the new Crime Scene Units will be set up in Murree, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum and Talagang. These units will train investigation officers in crime scene management and help ensure the timely preparation of forensic lab reports. This is expected to facilitate the submission of complete challans in serious cases within the constitutionally mandated timeframe and accelerate court proceedings. The units will also be established in other divisions, including: Lahore Division: Kasur and Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala Division: Sialkot and Narowal, Gujrat Division: Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Wazirabad, Multan Division: Lodhran, Vehari and Khanewal, Sahiwal Division: Pakpattan and Okara, Bahawalpur Division: Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan Division: Taunsa, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu, Faisalabad Division: Jhang and Chiniot and Sargodha Division: Khushab and Bhakkar. Officials say the initiative will significantly strengthen forensic capacity and improve the quality and speed of criminal investigations across Punjab.
