Punjab: Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, announced the establishment of Punjab Film City on 50 acres in Lahore. She also stated that this is an instrumental action to revitalize and reinforce the Media & Entertainment Industry of Pakistan.
Maryam said the project had been conceived almost two years ago and involved “continuous consultations with filmmakers, producers, and actors.
Listing the facilities being built as part of the complex, she said it would have “world-class studios and sound stages” with “advanced VFX and post-production labs”. A purpose-built convention hall is planned to host events, and an integrated trade hub will be built to facilitate business.
Convention halls will be established to host international events and award shows, while a media trade hub and dedicated film and music schools will also form part of the development.
The project aims to reduce reliance on foreign countries for visual effects (VFX) and post-production services by providing modern, local alternatives.
The master plan also features dedicated shooting locations, permanent sets, a central lake, and a convention hall designed for international events and award ceremonies.
“This initiative will empower local talent, create thousands of jobs, and position Pakistan as a global hub for creative excellence,” said the CM on X.
She added that the Film City will be a gift for youth and it will be a “space where their dreams can take flight and the true, vibrant face of Pakistan is showcased to the world”.
CM Maryam said it was her broader vision to transform Punjab into a leading global destination for technology, innovation, heritage, and culture, and the Punjab Film City will serve as a major step toward that goal.
