Punjab undertaking billion-rupee health reforms: Minister Salman

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that historic and revolutionary steps worth billions of rupees are being taken in the health sector across the province.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Department on Wednesday to review ongoing and proposed health development projects. The minister stated that the government is committed to providing the best healthcare facilities to people at their doorstep, adding that a comprehensive network of new hospitals is being established throughout Punjab.

During the meeting, concerned officials briefed participants on the progress of various projects. These included the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Lahore, Nawaz Sharif Medical District Lahore, University of Child Health Sciences Lahore, Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology Gujranwala, Maryam Nawaz Sharif Medical College and Teaching Hospital Mianwali, and Children’s Hospital Bahawalpur, among others.

Provincial Secretary for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood informed the meeting that all ongoing health projects would be completed within stipulated timelines. He added that work on new projects is progressing rapidly and that all initiatives are being closely monitored to ensure timely completion.

The meeting was also attended by Special Secretary Development Ahmed Kamal Mann, Additional Secretary Amira Bidar, Chief Planning Officer Fatima Noreen, and other senior officials.
