LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) In a bid to ensure the availability of essential commodities at government-notified rates during the holy month of Ramazan, the Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) has further strengthened market monitoring through its Qeemat Punjab System, developed for the Government of Punjab.
During the month of Ramazan, a total of 522 complaints related to overpricing were received from citizens through the Qeemat Punjab app, says a press release issued here on Wednesday. Out of these, 454 complaints were resolved by Price Control Magistrates within the stipulated 24-hour timeframe. Strict action was taken against violators, resulting in fines amounting to Rs. 352,000.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Qeemat Punjab app is regularly updated with daily rates of essential commodities, including fruits, vegetables, and poultry. Citizens can conveniently lodge complaints regarding overpricing, unavailability of official price lists, poor quality of goods, or inappropriate behavior of shopkeepers. All complaints are promptly addressed to ensure immediate relief.
In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated that the system is playing a vital role in enabling citizens to register complaints instantly and receive timely relief. He further added that the platform is also enhancing transparency and efficiency in the performance of district administrations.
