Race against rains: DC pushes for rapid deployment of modern machinery to fix Faisalabad’s drainage woes

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) In a proactive move to tackle persistent sewerage challenges ahead of the rainy season, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir has inspected newly acquired machinery at the WASA Parking Yard and ordered its immediate operational deployment to improve the city’s drainage system.

Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion and they briefed the deputy commissioner about the functionality of equipment and its deployment plan.

During visit, the deputy commissioner reviewed modern machinery including suction, desilting, dewatering and jetting units procured to enhance efficiency of sewerage maintenance and drainage operations across the city.

He directed WASA officials to ensure that the machinery is made fully operational without delay and utilized effectively in the field to address longstanding sewerage issues.

He stressed the importance of adopting modern technology and said that improving the drainage network is essential for providing relief to citizens.

Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir also instructed WASA authorities to ensure availability of machinery for timely cleaning of drains and sewer lines particularly in vulnerable areas to prevent blockages and overflow.

He emphasized preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season and called for a comprehensive pre-emptive strategy to ensure swift disposal of rainwater and minimize urban flooding.

He directed that all machinery must be kept in optimal operational condition through regular maintenance as prompt resolution of sewerage complaints and public facilitation is top priority of the administration.
