Railways earns Rs63.6bn carries 24.16m passengers in FY2026

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Railways has generated gross earnings of Rs63.56 billion during July-March FY2026, compared to Rs65.2 billion in the corresponding period last year, according to the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2025-26 unveiled by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The survey said that Pakistan Railways remained an important part of the country's transport network, carrying 24.16 million passengers during the period while continuing to support freight movement and economic activity.

Pakistan Railways operates a network of 444 locomotives across 7,791 kilometres of railway track, making it a key component of the national transport infrastructure.

During July-March FY2026, freight operations reached 4,839 million tonne-kilometres, reflecting the railway system's continued role in facilitating trade, logistics and connectivity across the country.

The survey said that Pakistan Railways continues to play a vital role in passenger mobility, freight transportation and economic integration, linking different regions of the country through its extensive rail network.
