Railways retrieves land worth Rs 120 mln in Rawalpindi anti-encroachment operation

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Pakistan Railways, with the assistance of the Railways Police, has retrieved precious commercial land worth millions of rupees during an anti-encroachment operation in Rawalpindi.

According to a spokesperson for the Railways Police on Friday, the operation was carried out on Goods Approach Road, where valuable railway land worth approximately Rs 120 million was recovered. During the action, 15 illegally constructed commercial shops were demolished, while several residential and commercial encroachments were cleared, resulting in the recovery of nearly two kanals of land.

The operation was conducted in Rawalpindi Division under the vision of Minister for Railways Mohammad Hanif Abbasi and on the directives of Inspector General Railways Police Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan.

A large contingent of Railways Police, led by Superintendent Railways Police Kosar Abbas and the Station House Officer, participated in the operation along with officials from the Railway Engineering Department, ensuring swift and effective enforcement.

IG Railways Police Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan reiterated that no encroachment on railway land will be tolerated. He stated that such operations are essential not only for protecting government property but also for strengthening the financial resources of Pakistan Railways.

The Railways Police reaffirmed its commitment to taking strict and impartial action against land mafia elements to safeguard railway assets across the country.
